By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

2.2 User Content

– Recipes: Titles, ingredients, instructions, cooking times, tags, images, source URLs, dietary preferences, allergies, cuisine, meal types, and user-generated notes.

– Meal Plans: Planned recipes, dates, and meal times.

– Imported Content: Data extracted from URLs you submit or images you import (OCR text).

– App Settings: Notification preferences, themes, and user configurations.

2.3 Device and Usage Data

– Device Information: iOS version, device model, app version for compatibility and debugging.

– Usage Analytics: App interactions, feature usage frequency, crash reports, and performance metrics collected through Firebase Analytics.

– Location Data: Not collected explicitly; only if you manually add location-based tags or settings.

2.4 Technical Data

– Firebase Services: Authentication tokens, sync timestamps, error logs, and database queries for operating the Service.

– SwiftData Storage: Local recipe data stored on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework.

– OCR Processing: Images you select are processed locally for text extraction using Apple’s Vision framework.

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Provide and Improve Our Service

– Store, organize, and sync your recipes across your devices.

– Enable recipe import from URLs and photo/image text recognition.

– Provide meal planning, notifications, and sharing features.

– Analyze usage patterns to improve app performance and features.

4.1 Firebase Services (Google Cloud)

– Your data is stored and processed using Google Firebase services (Firestore, Authentication, Analytics, App Check).

– Firebase follows Google Cloud’s security and privacy standards and is bound by Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

– We do not sell your data to third parties; Firebase processes your data solely to provide our Service.

4.2 Third-Party Services

– Recipes You Share Features: When you share recipes, recipients get the text/content you choose to share – data shared through your deliberate actions.

– Apple Services: iOS notifications, SwiftData local storage, and iCloud (if enabled in your device settings).

4.3 Security & Legal Requests

– Court orders, subpoenas, legal processes, or government requests (limited to data required by law).

– Investigating violations of Terms of Service or suspected illegal activity.

5. Data Security

– Firebase implements encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, and data residency options.

– SwiftData provides local device encryption.

– OCR processing happens locally on your device.

– Regular security audits and updates.

6. Data Retention

– Account Data: Retained while your account is active and up to 2 years after deletion per GDPR/business needs.

– Local Device Storage: Managed by Apple SwiftData; delete the app to clear it.

– Backup Sync Data: Firestore backups retained for up to 90 days for recovery purposes.

– Anonymous Analytics: Aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely for service improvement.

7. Cookies and Tracking

– Firebase Analytics: Uses anonymous analytics to improve app functionality and performance.

– No advertising trackers; analytics are used only for internal service improvement.

8. Push Notifications

– If enabled, we send reminders about meal planning or cooking times.

– Adjust preferences in app settings or your device’s Notification Center.

– iOS handles delivery; we do not customize per-user timing beyond your explicit preferences.

9. Your Rights

9.1 EU/UK Residents

– GDPR/LGDPA rights: access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection, and withdrawal of consent.

– We will respond within one month; complex requests may take up to three months.

9.2 California Residents

– CCPA rights: disclosure, deletion, non-discrimination, and opt-out of sale (we do not sell personal information).

9.3 Delete Your Account

– In-app: Settings → Delete Account option.

– By email: Contact us with your request for manual deletion.

– Deletion removes data from our cloud storage; local SwiftData persists until you uninstall the app.

10. Children/Minors Protection

– Age Requirement: 13+ (or minimum age of digital consent locally). We do not intentionally collect from younger users.

– If we learn of under-13 usage, we will delete that account and data promptly.

11. International Transfers

– Data may be processed in the US via Firebase. We rely on standard contractual clauses and DPA-compliant agreements.

– Where GDPR applies, relevant safeguards and adequacy decisions are maintained.

12. Updates to This Policy

– We may revise this Policy when Service features change. Effective date will be updated.

– Material changes will be communicated through app notifications, email, or website notices.
